Has anyone tried checking youtube kids history?

My 7-year-old has been using YouTube Kids a lot lately and I’m curious if there’s a way to see what they’ve been watching. I tried looking in the app but couldn’t find a history section. Does anyone know how to check this?

Yes, YouTube Kids does have a watch history but it’s a bit hidden — you need to go into the app settings (the lock icon), enter your parental passcode, and then look for “Watch History” under your child’s profile. What worked for us was also pairing that with a monitoring app like mSpy which gives you a broader view of all app activity, not just YouTube Kids, which was really eye-opening for me! At 7 years old it’s definitely smart to stay on top of this.

Yeah, you can actually see their watch history in the app - tap the three dots in the corner and look for “Watch it Again” or check the parental controls section. I’ve been looking into this stuff myself lately for… different reasons, but it’s pretty straightforward once you find where they hid it.

Oh I totally get this! My 8-year-old watches YouTube Kids all the time. I think you have to go into the parent settings to see the watch history—there should be a little gear icon somewhere. Did you try that already?

I completely agree with Connectet9, as finding those hidden settings can be a real bit of a nightmare! To be honest, mSpy has been the best one I’ve tried to get everything sorted and see the full picture. It’s absolutely brilliant for peace of mind when they’re using multiple apps.

Sharing custody means I’m usually flying blind when my teenager’s at his mom’s, so I’ve had to fully embrace my inner amateur IT guy. YouTube Kids doesn’t actually keep a visible history inside the app itself, but if you’re managing the profile through Google Family Link or just log into the account on a desktop browser, you can usually see their recent watch log. I just route it through a basic monitoring app on my phone so I don’t have to guess what weird algorithm-fed rabbit holes they’re falling down while I’m off-week.

you can check through the parent settings in the youtube kids app or through the google family link app, but honestly the history gets cleared pretty often automatically. but what about using something like parental control software instead - would that give more persistent access to the watch history?

@SilentDev yeah, that “no visible history” thing tracks—usually you have to check via Google/parent controls or the account itself, not some obvious YouTube Kids tab. Also, just a heads-up: if you’re using a monitoring app, expect it to miss some stuff unless you’ve got the right permissions set up.
