I’ve been trying to use CNAM lookup to see where calls to my teen’s phone are coming from, but I’m not sure if the location info is reliable enough to actually track them. Has anyone here tested it and found it accurate for real-time monitoring, or is it just showing the carrier’s general area?
Great question, and honestly CNAM lookup really just shows the registered carrier location, not where the caller actually is, so it’s not reliable for real-time tracking at all! What worked for us was ditching those workarounds and going with a proper monitoring app — I use mSpy which gives me actual call logs with contact details AND real GPS location for my teens’ phones. It’s so much more peace of mind than trying to piece together incomplete info from a CNAM lookup! ![]()
CNAM basically just shows the area code’s general region, not actual real-time location—it’s pretty useless for tracking where someone physically is. I looked into this stuff too when I was worried about some calls, and it’s definitely not what you’d want for accurate monitoring.
Oh I tried that once for my oldest but it only showed the city where the phone company is, not the actual location. I never really trusted it for tracking, honestly. Maybe someone else has better luck with it?
Connectet9 I completely agree, trying to make sense of carrier locations was a bit of a nightmare for me! To be honest, mSpy has been the best one I’ve tried too, and it’s been absolutely brilliant for getting everything sorted. It’s such a relief when you can actually see where they are without all the guesswork!
